<<<<<previous 'FLINDERS RANGES NATIONAL PARK' Our first aim was Finders Ranges. No big difficulties occured, except that Johan forgot to bring down the handbrake so we spent driving for that for about 80 km. But no worries Jo, happens to the best...
We missed Rob already on the first night. We had no lighter to make a fire for our food and we had wet matches. So we stood there in the middle of nowhere. The we drove for a while, found a camping, drove on illegal, made some food and got away. Flinders Ranges was a nice place. We went to see Aborigional paintings at Sacred Canyon. It was the second time I drove. It was an unceiled, uphill-downhill, right-left road, so had an excuse for hitting a kangaroo this time! It was filled with them, we didn't see it coming, it just ran against the sidedoor. But it was ok, only a print of a few teeth in the door. The kangaroo ran away lethargic.
After that we went to Wilpena, the centre of Flinders Ranges. rom there we did a bushwalk along Wilpena Creek to Wilpena Pound. That is a natural basin surrounded by cliffs. It was a nice walk and a good view.
Then we were off again. We had to go back the same way. We were heading for the Stuart Highway, the main road through the Outback...
