'JUGIONG'

This place was just brilliant. I have some of the best memories...

Actually it seemed nothing special: we stayed at a camp with wooden sheds (barracks) which were too hot at daytimes and too cold at nighttimes. There was nothing except for 2 big tents, one for our daily meal and one with an old tv and pooltable which was not even straight... Every night we sat around a big fire with a beer and having a chat or a singalong.
There was a big hill on one side which gave an atmosphere of Scotland, and the factory nearby on the other side.

Jugiong itself was 25 minutes walking. We had no problems with that as Coen and Peter had a car. But for others it was more a problem as the telephone cab at the campsite was stolen...(?). Only 150 people lived here in the middle of nowhere. There was a pub, a policestation and a postoffice, that was nothing more than a shed though.

It was cool seeing Coen at the other side of the world as he lives just about a mile down the road from me here in Holland. Peter, his travelmate, was a good bloke. We all shared the same shed, number 1.

Work was alright. Actually it was so boring but we ended up standing with the 4 of us and a Dutch girl at one table. What a laugh we had! We were not allowed to talk much but we worked our balls off so we got away with it. We were actually singing. Everyone knew us. I was wearing glasses as I got bitten by some insect and had a big lump just above my eye. Still wonder what kind of insect that was...

We met the best people over there. Our campleader Maggie was an ugly fat Irish woman who seemed to be a real alcoholic but she was very lovely, top! She is actually an relative of the famous old McCloud-clan from Scotland (Braveheart), as we may believe her.
And there were the 'campchamps'.

And some other cool people such as Jurgen (remind him...) and not to forget lovely Linde...

We worked 6 days and were off at Sundays. On Sundays we drove around the area where we saw the first Kangaroo in wildlife. We also went to CANBERRA.

Jugiong was the opposite of Sydney, there was nothing but it was a top time! I really enjoy my memories of it...

Then it was time to say farewell again... Maggie asked us to stay as we were good workers and we put in some atmoshpere. She even offered to buy me a guitar...
But we decided to travel with Coen and Peter and the car with the Windmill. So after three weeks we said goodbye in style...
