'ULURU NATIONAL PARK & KATA TJUTA NATIONAL PARK'
'-AYERS ROCK & THE OLGAS-'

It was still quite a drive from Cooper Pedy to Uluru -Kata Tjuta National Park. Halfway we drove into the state of Northern Territory.

Then after a lot of driving there was a junction! The Lasseter Highway, the road to the Olgas, Kings Canyon and the famous Ayers Rock.

We camped near that junction and met some real good people from Melbourne.

The next day we went to Kata Tjuta (better known as the Olgas) first. The Olga's are rounded Rocks that stand out of the sand. We did an 2,5 hours walking trail, the 'Valley of the Winds' which was great.

Really enjoyed that walk. Only those flies, but that was good for my patience. That night when I was sleeping I still felt the flies crawling on my face...

After the Olga's we went to see the sunset at Uluru (better known as Ayers Rock), but it was not a clear sky. There even was a tiny little bit of rain falling down.

The next day Johan and me climbed Ayers Rock. Joost didn't because out of respect for the aborigionals. A good thing, must have done the same actually. But it was a great view from above. You could see for miles and miles...

Then we ran down actually instead of walking 'till we had blisters on our feet.

Then I walked around it with Joost. Was quite a walk, but it was worthwile. Was amazed by all the trees and green, even found a little pool! That was the last thing I expected.

I was not really as keen as most people on seeing this all, but I can tell you it was brilliant. The Olgas were brilliant, but Ayers Rock was even more brilliant. And if you don't know if you have to climb it or walk around it, well do it both, you can't not miss out on either one... Actually, do not climb it but respect the aborigionals, something I didn't. Shame on me...

That evening we waited especially for the sunset, but again there was no clear sky. Well, shit happens... But it couldn't take away the beauty and excitement from our time over there.
