:: Tihuanaca

A.k.a Tiahuanaco or Tiwanaku. I'd never heard of this place before, but man, these days I hear more and more of it ...

Basically it's an old city, creation dates vary from 400BC to more that 12000BC !! It lays in between La Paz and Lake Titicaca. At the time it was believed to be at the shores of the lakes as very very old boats have been find at a so called port at the site. At its peak it was supposed to be one of the biggest towns in the world. There's even a theory that it might be the Atlantis Plato spoke of ... There's lots of other intersting theories and facts.

They have found a irrigation system which is remarkable, incredible and highly cultivated. Also the way the site was geopgrahically built is amazing. The way the sun showes up at the site at the important dates of the year (like 21st March, June, September and December) over the three nearby mountaintops is genius and no coincedence ... Then there is this Gateway of the Sun, a stone which is not yet deciphered and which is to believed hold important ancient information ...

There's lots more to be told, but I just like to mention two things more. At the time I was there I've seen a big statue with symbols of elephants. There are no elephants (and have never been in its relatively late history) at the American continent. I have also seen a little pottery at the size of a hand, which shows a native Mongol. At least it did not have the look of a Southermican. What can that mean, they've traveled over to Mongolia or vice versa ?...

It's defenitely worth it to read more about this place. In one way I regret I did not know as much about this place as I do now at the time of my visit. I defenitely want to pay this another visit ... It's a daytrip visit from La Paz ...
