The Deathroad, like the Tihuanaca tour, is just a day trip from La Paz.
We were back in La Paz four 5,5 days after rounding a circle through Bolivia.
The bicycle tour was actually done on one of these days, but was worth a mention on his own ...
I remember telling I like La Paz, it's a big proper city with lots to do and to see.
Like the 2 day-trips I just mentioned for example.
Wandering around the city was also nice.
We visited the World Press Photo Exhibition which was on at the time.
I have never visited one before and it was great.
Lots of beautifull photos with its story.
I was invited for the farewell party of Karina (who we first met in Pisco) at her families place ...
She adviced me to take a Trufi, kind of a taxi, but really really cheap.
You set off when it was full, it was only half a euro and it took me 25 minutes !
That was a great night and a really nice experience as well to mix with these people in their own environment ...
Another thing was having breakfast at the British Council.
I think that was actually mentioned in the lonely planet.
For about 3,5 euros we had this most amazing typical English breakfast, with the BBC news channel and British papers.
We actually made it our lunch and it was great !
If you're ever in La Paz, go there, it's definitely worth it, even the taxi ride to it ...
We also had breakfast at the Ritz for about the same money.
We just walked in with in our shorts and everything and you could eat as much as you wanted !
We wandered through the little markets, getting some souvenirs and basically chilled out.
I watched a few Premiership games of my beloved Newcastle United in the Oasis.
We found this perfect restaurant nearby which had the best meal and wine for like 4,5 euros.
I also tried to sort out my return ticket, finally everything was arranged with the company where I was going to do my working experience for my studies.
I wanted to go to the Huaraz, a concentration of few of the most profilic mountaintops of the Andes, north of Lima for about a week.
But it was a pain in the arsh and impossible to change ...
Then there was Newyear's Eve.
Karina had given me this place to go, but once we got there it was still really quite, so we ended up having our party at Mongo's,
a well known and very cool bar in La Paz and we had a true cracker over there ...
We left at 7 in the morning, having lost my wallet (of course), only to sleep 3 hours to recover in the sauna of another 5 star hotel, the Residence.
It was only 6 euros and you could stay as long as you wanted !
Then it was time for 1 of our last tours together, the Pampas, or basically our jungle tour.
We heard about this place Rurrenabaque as a good place to do.
And it is another good trip from La Paz.
You could reach it by taking the Deathroad, but we decided to take the much safer 1h15 minutes flight ...
Back to La Paz on the 28th of December, enough time find and to prepare a good party for Newyears eve ...
