I reckon that when you're traveling you need a kind of a place to make home.
Actually what you do is taking a break from traveling a visiting things.
we though that Cuzco might be the perfect place for that.
We had been going round for 16 days by now.
Next to that, one of the reasons to go to Cuzco is to do the Incatrail.
Nowadays they have this rule that you have to book 3 to 4 days in advance, due to prevent altitude sickness for tourist you get to Cuzco first thing ...
I'd also like to mention quickly this busride from Arequipa to Cuzco wchich is baptismed to the Bingo-Bus.
We played Bingo in this bus.
I was taking the piss a bit by saying Bingo all the time 'till finally my card was really full.
Bingo!
I won a return ticket, but that was not in the plan.
I told them to offer it to a poor local who can not pay for it, but I doubt the've followed my request.
Back to Cuzco.
This time was simply great.
We created this daily routine.
Where should I begin though ...
We wake up somewhere after noon.
Partly of the night before, but also beacause of the rooms.
We had this 5 bed-room for the 3 of us where there was practicaly no sunbeam once the windows where locked.
This created a no-sence-of-time.
Not bad for a change.
Well, after waking up we went to an internetcafée to have a 1 euro breakfast, which include an orange juice, a coffee, scrambled eggs and an hour of internet ...
After that we went to Plaza des Armes which had these bars with balconies and had a coffee there with some chess or something like that to chill out ...
Then it was time for a afternoon movie (paying buy buying just a drink), usually followed by a nightly movie (1 euro), which ended into the happy hour hour.
During these 45 minutes we went to 3 or 4 bars where we had our free drink, like a Caïrperinha or Piso-sour.
After these happy-hour drinks we had one or two more and usually we ended up in Mama Africa untill various times, varying from 4 am to 8 am.
Then we had a sleep and then it started all over again.
Man, I have to say writing this down makes me longing for these days again.
But ofcourse we've done more than only that.
For example, we had a rare cooking at the hostel.
Everything is so cheap, that you go out to eat all the time; breakfast, lunch and dinner ...
A meal is quite often the same, for about 1 or 2 euros you have a coke and a plate of rice, frites and some alpacameat.
Which is not bad at all actually.
After a few weeks it is nice to do some cooking for yourself, even if that's more expensive !
It was the first time I went to a hairdresser as well, only 2 sol.
They had all this posters with models from Europe and none from South America itself.
I also think they hardly receive Western people, beacuse I was like a big attraction ...
Ofcourse we've also seen stuff.
Cuzco used to be the center of the Inca kingdom.
We visited some sites, one of them for Sacsayhuaman better known as Sexy Woman.
Amazing, there were these bib big rocks.
They were also attached to each other without being able to stick your finger in between.
We had this Spanish speaking guide and I even started to follow him for bits and pieces.
If not, we had Jimmy (later to be known as Jimmy Silvertooth, but I get you that story later on...) to translate it for us in English.
Apart from Jimmy we met other great people, like our ozzie mates, Antonio (Antony) and Luiz (Leighton) who we had already met in the oasis of Huacachina.
And ofcourse you might pick another familiar Israeli face among the group of them who all travel in waves ...
To not to get too much into detail, I like to keep it to this for the moment and go on to one of the reasons why I personally decided to take on this journey : the Incatrail ...
